Boomer Creek Felix must surely be the foundation sire of polled Miniature Herefords in the Southern Hemisphere. While the rest of the world is progressing with the breeding of polled minis, two minority breeders’ groups “down under” are stagnating in a backwater of their own making and contributing nothing to the improvement of Miniature Hereford breeding overall. The polled animal will prevail and it is in everyone’s interests to encourage the use of suitable animals toward this purpose just as is done in the USA where it all began. The two oldest breeders of polled minis in the States are totally bemused by the antics of those trying to prevent similar breeding programmes in both Australia and New Zealand.
